Yaquan Williams

Is 43 and Incarcerated in PA

Good morning, afternoon, or evening to whomever receives this. My name is Yaquan G. Williams. I am currently an inmate housed at SCI Greene serving a life sentence for First degree homicide. Although my sentence and conviction may be a blemish or dark cloud looming over my decent and overall good character and integrity as a son, father and most importantly black man, I am innocent and have been claiming my innocence from day one. Soon and hopefully very soon I will regain my freedom and liberties back. In due time, is one of the few Slogans I constantly repeat to myself on a daily basis. This is a brief bio about my past. present and what I would like my future to look like. I was born in Brooklyn NY to a beautiful black single mother. Around six years of age me and my mom parted ways due to life choices that caused my grandmother to false custody of me and that’s who raised me until my teenage years. With the help of a few aunts and uncles I had what I would call a normal upbringing. Like most inner city youth, poverty stricken and low income housing and not the best education institutions, I felt loved, was loved and know what love looks like. I would say that was the qive to my family structure. To the best of my guardian’s ability I was well taken care of. Around thirteen my mother and I reunited. She ended up moving to PA and getting herself together and ultimately got custody of me again. Like any other typical kid growing up in the late 80’s early 90’s without a father or father figure or positive role model to look up to or lead by example. I did what every other hard headed arrogant, rebellious ambitious youngster motivated by the wrong wants and desires did. Gravitate to the streets. A roller coaster of events has caused many twist and turns in my life. I wouldn’t call myself athletic but I played sports in school, basketball and I was on the wrestling team for two seasons, unfortunately when I quit school I gave up on that as well. I am still a fan of the sports of basketball and football. My teams are NY Giants and NY Knicks. A few important things I would like people to know about me. I love reading and writing despite my poor handwriting currently in my possession I have about close to 100 books. Anything from Toni Morrison to Eckhert Tolle, which by the way my favorite book (The Power of Now) I am a poet by nature, so poetry is my tranquility. I love music and I am a songwriter as well. I love all kinds of music as long as it has a rhythm to it. I am a fan of rap music but R & B is how I like to chillout and zone to mostly anything from the 70’s/80’s gets me going. I am what some would call old soul. I am a routine type of guy. My morning’s usually start off at 4:00 am. Hygiene ritual is a must. Around 4:30 am I’m sipping a cup of coffee, reading whatever book that week or month consists of, one hour of reading is followed by 30 min of meditation before I start my day. I exercise regularly and try to stay healthy as possible. I enjoy relaxing around good energy people. Good conversation and different perspectives is what I look forward to in personal engagement. Close friend and associates will tell you that I give wise guidance and compassionate council. I am also a reasonable and just when it comes to judgment. These are just some of the things I can share without being too long winded. I’m in hopes to find a female friend, no matter race, age, or beauty, looking to share thoughts, trade stories or just hear a natural laugh of life with. The good the bad and the ugly or indifferent. I understand there’s a lot of people out there looking for someone to converse with, someone willing to be open and honest with who is capable of listening just like the little things we all go thru in life. I possess those capabilities of being an ear and shoulder to listen and lean on. I am not one who let this current situation darken my vision or distract me from joy and happiness, I still have a sense of humor and enjoy good mentor. My struggle is real and my journey is rough. But I believe what you go thru un life strengthens or weakens your today or tomorrow. This makes me grateful and humble for what’s next. With as much strength and humility I state this. I am a complex and simplistic puzzle of a portrait, vintage in couture, searching for that missing piece to help display my true art, with help and assistance this masterpiece can be.
